Data dashboards to the rescue! These important management tools are used to visually track, analyze and present key performance indicators (KPIs) and other relevant data that help your organization benchmark success. They act as a snapshot of your most valuable intel, giving you a heads up on the important functionalities of your business.

What is the purpose of a data dashboard?

CLARITY.

Use psychology as part of your data analysis. Results without mindfulness on personal reasoning and actions is essential when crunching reactions based on behavior.

Data dashboards incrementalize the trigger points of your business and showcase how they perform at any given time.

Dashboards summarize all your strategic data points and produce stats that let you make business decisions. The metrics are big touchpoints to see  if a business objective is positive or negative.

How do you measure dashboard data?

DEPENDS ON YOUR GOALS.

Complexity is the enemy. Keep measurements simple and easily decipherable by employees.

Understand what questions you really want answered. A clear vision makes wading through unnecessary info easier and less time consuming.

Oftentimes the questions that answer the biggest problems are ones where multiple sources of data are used.

Identify the key metrics that are most closely related to your business’s priorities, and remember that the goal is to drive results for an entire organization, not to weaponize data or use it to make someone feel good about themselves.

What should you look for in a dashboard tool?

A BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE TOOL THAT CHAMPIONS DECISION INTELLIGENCE .

Look for opportunities to bring multiple sources of data together.

A tool that synthesizes your data quickly and efficiently into a repeatable process for easy comprehension among your organization.

Make your dashboard tool automated so it updates itself with real-time information.

Ensure you have employees with the proper skill sets (ex: data scientist, data modeling knowledge and ETL concept expertise) to bring all the systems together into a unified dashboard.

It’s fine to have more than one dashboard. Start with an executive view and branch out departmentally if need be.

Takeaway

Data and the design is only as good as the team behind it. At ATC, our cross-functional business intelligence teams are experts in customizing your data and shaping the narratives you need to succeed.
